AFCC

The Texas Chapter of the AFCC was organized in January of 2000 after several court officials, attorneys, therapists, and mediators met and discussed the needs of Texas children

 The purposes adopted by the Texas Chapter are:

·To provide an interdisciplinary forum for the exchange of ideas and the development of procedures to lessen problems arising from separation or divorce and conservatorship issues;

·To encourage the development of courts and court procedures emphasizing constructive methods for resolving family disputes;

·To develop and improve counseling, parent education, mediation, custody evaluation and other processes to aid families in resolving their disputes.

·To protect the interests of children in relation to all aspects of family law, child protection proceedings and other legal actions affecting children.

Provisional status was awarded at the winter international board meeting. By-laws were adopted and officers were elected at the September 2000 meeting. Chapter status was granted in 2004 at the 41st Annual AFCC International Conference in San Antonio, Texas.
